Video Tutorials on Creating and Selling a Niche Information Product

Jay (Jason Van Orden) 11 Comments

One of my favorite bloggers has a video tutorial that I recommend on how to create and sell a niche information product.

If Sterling and I haven’t yet convinced you of why you should create and sell information products, then watch this short video from Brian Clark.

Besides their excellent information, I love these tutorials because Brian created them using some of my favorite tools.

1. Camtasia

Camtasia is a screen capture program that records your computer screen and audio. It’s the perfect way to make video tutorials. I’ve made an entire membership site before using Camtasia.

In full disclosure, I should mention that Techsmith, the creators of Camtasia, are sponsoring an event that I am helping to organize. In addition they provided me with free software to help them beta test the latest version of Camtasia. However, I was a fan of Camtasia long before that.

2. WordPress

The whole Tubetorial site is published using my favorite blogging software, WordPress. That the same software that runs this site and many other of my sites.

3. Mindjet

It’s no secret that Sterling and I love mindmapping software. We’ve recommended the free Freemind software in the past. In fact, if you sign up for our email newsletter, you’ll get Sterling’s video tutorial on how to use Freemind.

Mindjet is Freemind on steroids. When you’re ready to step up your mindmapping, Mindjet is the way to go. A great way to create your information product is to mindmap it and then record yourself walking through and explaining the mindmap, with Camtasia just like Brian has done in his tutorial.

So give those tutorials and tools a try and see if they give you just the boost you need to create your first information product.

I want to begin by saying “thank you” for creating & maintaining such a great podcast! I think your podcast is easily one of the most informative & helpful shows in the internet business genre.

I am an internet entrepreneur myself. My “flagship” or profile site is http://www.mindfulentrepreneur.com – where I write about business & personal development topics.

Your IBM shows have played a major role in catalyzing some of my recent business plan changes. Most importantly, you guys have revitalized my faith in the “big picture” of what I’m doing as an internet entrepreneur.

To show my appreciation, I’ve posted a review of your podcast on my blog today. Check it out at http://www.mindfulentrepreneur.com/blog

Whether you two know this or not, you are currently acting as my “virtual mastermind group” as I am working to form an actual group of my own. : )

Jay

Sterling,
I am currently a powerseller on ebay and I am looking to move into information marketing to expand my product line. I am scared as hell to make this plunge but I can plainly see that my families’ future is much brighter with me being a information marketer. I have many ideas in my head and on tape that I can turn into information products. I have made an account with clickbank.com and I am in the process of searching for a few products that I can affiliate with as well. I have some domain names registered with 1and1.com that I plan to for my information sites. I am also in the process of building some ebay affiliate sites as well. I firmly believe that with the knowledge I have gained from the IBM podcast, the New Renagadeebaysellers.com podcast that Jay is doing and the Eauctionair.com podcast that I can build a lucrative information marketing empire.

My question to you is…I noticed that you started with the program “Insider Secrets to Marketing Your Business on the Internet” and I also noticed that you have some other products on IBM like “The Rich Jerk.” Of all the products you have there which one would you suggest I use to start out?

Respectfully,
Jay

“Build your empire one business at a time.”

Hey Jay,

Just to clarify, the RenegadeEbaySellers.com podcast is done by me and Andrew Lock. Jay does a fantastic podcast about… Podcasting at podcastingunderground.com.

As I have said several times I did start with Insiders Secrets. I still recommend them as the first place to start. I have tried MANY other courses and of the ones I have seen, that has been the most complete and useful.

Jay and I are working on a Internet Marketing 2.0/Web 2.0 A to Z “Get Started” course, but it will be quite a while till we get that out.

Andrew Lock is coming out with a HUGE eBay starter course in the next month or so. Check out the Renegade Ebay Sellers for more info on that one.

Best,
Sterling

As for free mindmapping software, you might also try our The Brain at http://www.thebrain.com. It’s a little different, but the way you can move around connections is extremely useful.

Hi Sterling and Jay! Thank you so much for your site and podcast! On one of your podcasts, I’ve heard about tools for creating PDFs. You said about some difficulties with creating PDF files that include HTTP links. Tried to search on this web site but didn’t find it in a text form. I think this post I’m commenting is relevant. So just in case smb needs it — OpenOffice.org (it’s FREE) allow to create full features PDFs.

Thanks for introducing me to Camtasia. This is the best screen recording software I’ve used. Simple, fast and very powerful. I’ve made some photoshop tutorials as well.

Many Thanks
