So Jay, I have a question for you that will, thanks to the time shifting nature of this podcast, sound really strange. You ready?
Jay: Uh….okay.olHUh okay
Sterling: How was your visit with me here in San Diego that doesn’t start until tomorrow?
Jay: Oh boy, that’s a tough one. Okay, let me think about that, okay let’s see – projecting myself into the future….ahhhh….
Sterling: It has to great; it was a great trip.
Jay: It was awesome!
Sterling: You’re at the beach with me, what are you crazy?
Jay: That’s right, what could be better than that?
Sterling: Actually I noticed thanks to watching the movie Star Trek and to watching things like Lost, and even the Terminator movie that’s coming out. There’s this theme going on that has to do with time shifting, and alternate realities and stuff. I actually was talking about it at a dinner party last night, about the whole time shifting stuff that’s going on. And we’re getting more and more in tune with this idea of time shifting, that’s it’s even seeping into the movies and stuff.
Jay: That is interesting, that always makes my head hurt when I start thinking about the future and the past, and changing realities, holy cow.
Sterling: Well and I guess one of the things to mention is why you’re flying down here other than the obvious.
Jay: To see you I mean, obviously.
Sterling: Yeah, exactly. And then I guess there’s the beach.
Jay: The sun….yeah we’re going to be getting ready for the platinum group that we’ve been mentioning, our new high end mastermind coaching group that’s going to be launching soon. So we thought it would be good to get together and kind of powwow about that, and gear up to…just kind of plan out the logistics, and gear up to get that thing launched and out there to the community. So that’s going to be a lot of fun, it’s always fun to get together in person and kind of hammer these things out.
It’s usually exhausting because for like two or three days straight that’s all we do is just talk hard core business, but there’s always good ideas that come out of it, so it should be a good time.
Sterling: Well and at least we can do it at the beach, and I’ve also planned a mastermind group where we get to play disc golf. We haven’t graduated to golf yet, but we get with a group of other business guys, play Frisbee golf on actually a really large course here in San Diego that we have to limit it to two hours because at two hours we’re only halfway through the course.
So I’ve got some things planned, but anyway yeah, for the platinum group. And by the way, where can people sign up – it’s at InternetBusinessMastery.com/platinum, is that right?
Jay: That’s correct, yeah. If you want to get on the early launch list, the early notification list to get all the details and have the first opportunity to claim one of the limited number of spots that we’ll have available, go to InternetBusinessMastery.com/platinum.
Sterling: And that will lead you to the possibility of direct coaching.
Jay: That’s right.
And now the featured segment…
Jay: Alright, in this episode’s featured segment, we have part two of our interview with John Jonas of GetReplaceMyself.com. We’ve had a phenomenal response to the last part, I mean people have just been telling us, “Oh my gosh, this is life changing stuff!” So we’re very excited to bring you part number two from John, and again thanks to John, we’ve been able to reduce the number of hours that we work by 30% over the last month. We’ve reduced drastically the amount of hours we put in every week, so really awesome stuff.
Sterling: Well I also wanted to mention that a couple friends here in town that listened to our last episode, it’s funny because I worry that people get used to us saying how life changing things are! Like from them all they here me is, “Oh I did this and it was life changing!” So when they get to know me, I’m hoping they don’t go, “Okay, well it’s the next life changing thing,” but even getting through that and what I say like that, they listened to the last one and it blew them away.
I mean just like I was saying, “Listening to him will blow you away, I’m telling you!” And they’re like, “Yeah, yeah,” but then they listened and they were completely surprised by it. So yeah, this is the second part and the final part to this series.
Jay: Awesome, yeah we’ve had a number of Internet Business Mastery community members and listeners who have signed up for his program. So we’re clearly a message that’s very much resonating with our audience. So with that, let’s dive into part two of our interview with John Jonas of GetReplaceMyself.com.
Sterling: Okay, so I’ve got one question for you, and then I’ve got an instant question on Twitter. We both just asked if anybody had any questions for you, but they’re very similar. So the first one is from us, it’s – so what’s your favorite method of finding and hiring these Filipino V.A.’s, and Robert Axle asked, “Is it much work to find the right people to outsource to?”
John: Okay, so my guess…I don’t know if these people are listening.
Sterling: No.
John: So do you see what I mean when I say that people don’t really understand, they don’t know the right questions to ask, because what they know about outsourcing is so wrong. So what’s my favorite method, or where do you go to find the right people? I just told you! You go to the Philippines, right?
And there are very specific websites where you can find people with almost any skill set. It’s so, so simple once you know. And what’s my favorite method of finding people? You hiring a full time person, there’s not a method. You’re going to find the right person, so that person’s thinking about how do you use Elance, how do we use Odesk. That’s the problem.
So let me tell you how you find people. In the Philippines, number one you can use Craig’s List. Manilla.Craigslist.com, you can use PH.JobStreet.com, you could use JobsOnline.ph I think. I don’t remember that one, you can use Odesk to find someone in the Philippines, just make sure they’re in the Philippines.
Now all these methods, I mentioned them because I have tried them. I have never succeeded with them, but I know other people who have. I say all these because they’re there, and I want people to know that it really isn’t that difficult to find people. Here’s another good method, there’s a company called Agents of Value, they are more companies than just Agents of Value that do this, but they’re the most well known.
AgentsOfValue.com, they will hire people in the Philippines for you, they recruit them, and then they put them in an office eight hours a day working for you. They’ll give them an IQ test, so you can see how good they are before you hire them, they’ll give programmers a programming test, they’ll make them write an article if you want, whatever. They recruit people for you; they will have that person some into an office in the Philippines every day, and work, and they will verify that they’re there working for you.
Then you pay them, you pay this American company – Agents of Value, you pay them some money, and then they pay the guy in the Philippines some money. I think the current prices are around $700 a month, because what you pay to Agents of Value every month.
So that’s significantly more than what I said before from what I pay my people. Now I have used Agents of Value before, that’s how I got started. And it was wonderful, it was wonderful – I’m not going to say anything else about it. They’re a good company; I know they’re having problems right now. That’s all I’m going to say.
Where do I find my people? There is a specific website that I’m not going to mention where I find my people. Here’s why I’m not going to say it, I’ve been doing this for about ten months now where I talk about this, and I’ve found that so many people were finding this one website that I use that it was actually making it more difficult to find good talent there. So a couple of months ago, I stopped telling people what it is! I stopped telling it for free, because when you see what is there, it will shock you.
You will literally, when I show people this, they start going crazy and they stop listening to what I’m saying, and they start using it, because it is amazing, the amount of talent, the kind of talent that you will find there. And I don’t know why this site isn’t very well known, it probably took me a year to find it, and I don’t even remember how I found it. I just stumbled upon it one time, and it is so good…I mean this one website I like to say is worth $500 a month for the rest of your life, because instead of finding someone with Agents of Value at $700 a month, you’re going to find someone here for $200 a month – the same person.
So I…like I said, I don’t tell this for free anymore, but there is a dang, dang good place to find people where there are thousands and thousands of people asking to be hired. And that is what I use to hire people. For me now, I will use that. I will also ask my people, “Who do you know that has this skill?” when I need someone, and they usually have someone.
I have six people working for me, but that’s another good way of finding good people. Just so you know, and I’ll tell this, when you are looking to hire someone other than a programmer, the only qualification that I require is that they speak English. And depending on what I want them to do, they speak good English. That’s the only qualification. I don’t care if they know SEO, I don’t care if they’ve done articles, I don’t care how much internet stuff they know, all that stuff can be taught.
You’re not going to teach someone to write good English. So good English is my only qualification, unless it’s a programmer, and then I want to know how good of a programmer are they?
Sterling: Well and it’s interesting with somebody that you hire full time yourself as well, one of the things with another business partner that I worked with, we hired a guy originally through Agents Of Value, and the interesting thing is once we brought him on full time for us, we actually brought him on outside Agents of Value later.
And when you don’t have something, let’s say….because we were worried about wow, what are we going to keep him doing for forty hours a week? At first we thought it was going to be hard. And then of course you start finding lots of things, but there were times when we would go out of town and not have a whole list of things for him to do.
Well, we would say to him, do you know how to use WordPress and know these certain things with WordPress? And if he said no, we would just buy a course on WordPress, give it to him and say, “For the next week and a half while we’re gone learn it.” And like you were saying before, if you hire somebody on Elance, what you would give them – that knowledge – it would be gone, they would leave. Well our guy, we would constantly do that.
We’d say, “Do you know how to do this?” And if he said no, we would just buy him or give him a product we had and tell him “learn this thing,” and then you constantly get the value from that knowledge, because he’s a full time employee like you said.
John: And it’s amazing how that changes your whole idea, your ability to assess business ideas and say, “I can do that. I know I can do that. My guys can do that!”
Sterling: Absolutely.
John: So I don’t know what you guys want to do, so I have an audio that tells about this, that tells about where I hire people, the specific website. And it gives a whole bunch of other tips too, like what I have them do for me, and how I manage them, how I pay them, there’s a whole bunch more stuff in that audio. My guess is you guys will provide a link to where people can get that audio?
Jay: Yeah, we’re going to have…we’ve been checking out this program that you’re talking about, and it is just awesome as if people couldn’t already tell based on the kind of information you’re giving for free in this interview.
This program that you’ve created Replace Myself is just amazing information. I’ve just had a chance to glance at it, I know Jeremy’s gone through it a lot more thoroughly and he’s been raving about it. But definitely you can go check that out at GetReplaceMyself.com if they want more information about that – GetReplaceMyself.com, and it’s absolutely worth checking this program out.
I mean I think it’s very evident based on what you’re telling us here in this interview, I mean any business owner, even an employee like you said, even if you still had your job could benefit from this information – this whole concept of outsourcing just life changing stuff when it comes to the true lifestyle design and attaining the lifestyle that you want. So very, very cool stuff, and we’re glad somebody like you has cracked the code for us, and we can just follow the system that you’ve figured out.
John: Good. Let me talk for a second about GetReplaceMyself.com and what it is, because there’s three parts to it. Number one, there’s the audio that the first half of my audio is free, and then the second half covers…that’s not free, and that’s the first part of this audio – listening to it. Because it will change everything you think about your business and outsourcing, right? That’s number one.
Sterling: It’s even worse that we actually knew about outsourcing and I listened to it and went, “Oh my gosh, I missed a lot of things!” Like we thought it was really cool what we were doing; then you hear it and go, “I have to redesign a lot of things to make it work so much better.”
John: So that’s number one, that’s the first part of this. The second part of this, and so that is like an hour and a half – that audio. The second part of what I did with GetReplaceMyself.com is the training for you, which is like 2% of what it is. That is designed to help you hire someone quickly, to help you understand the mindset to get you going. There’s so little there about that, because there doesn’t need to be a ton.
Once you’ve listened to the rest of that audio, you understand it; you know what you need to do. The 98% of GetReplaceMyself.com is training for the people that you hire. So this is not…I specifically designed it this way…this is not a program for you. This is a program for your guys so that you don’t have to work; everything else that people buy is something else for them to do. It’s one more thing that they have to do that they don’t have time to do.
This is the opposite, this is designed to take away all of those things from you. What you get with Get Replace Myself is not something for you to do, it is something for you to give to your guy, and say, “Go do this.” It’s training on how to do article marketing correctly so that you don’t have to ever have to think about it again. But you know that it’s happening, and it’s happening correctly. It’s training for how to run your AdWords account correctly, it’s training for how to do video marketing correctly, and how to use that Traffic Geyser account that you’re paying for.
It’s how to do directory submissions correctly, and actually partner with a directory submitter and give that software to your guy in the Philippines. It is training on how to properly use Facebook and Myspace and Squidoo for your business, not for personal use but for your business. It’s training on how to do SEO correctly, it’s training on how to set up a WordPress correctly, it’s training on how to install scripts correctly, everything in there is designed for your guy in the Philippines so that you don’t have to work at it.
And it’s stuff that immediately they can do to improve your business. So the three parts of GetReplaceMyself.com are the audio, which is for you. There’s an hour and a half. Then there’s like 2% of it, which is for you to help you in addition to that audio, stuff I couldn’t fit, of how to hire someone quickly, because it will change your business, it will change your life. Everything else is not for you; everything else is for the guys that you hire, because that’s how you live the lifestyle. That’s how you live the dream lifestyle, the 4-Hour Work Week lifestyle, whatever you want to call it, the laying on a beach in Mexico lifestyle.
For me it’s the ‘playing golf every day after I spend time in the morning with my kids’ lifestyle. You don’t get that by doing the work yourself, you get that by having other people do the work for you.
Sterling: Yeah, it’s really funny because right before we did this interview, we were talking about different things that you do and don’t do, and Jay’s like, “What do you actually do?” And it was like, “Uh, play golf!” It’s like, what?! We’ve got a lot of work to do to get rid of the work we’ve got to do.
Alright, so we’ve got some questions here for you from our listeners. And the first one is from Lazarus2000 asks on Twitter, “How do you keep on top of all your V.A.’s to make sure they are all on track?”
John: I have three answers for this. Number one, I don’t necessarily have to. They are Filipino; they are on track. That’s my best answer. I already told you about the culture in the audio you get for free on my site, it’ll tell you more about it. But they are super, super honest. They’re going to do what you tell them to do, and they’re super hardworking. So as soon as you hire someone, you’ll understand this. You’ll understand, the first time they email you and say, “I have an internet outage today for four hours, I’ll make it up for you on Saturday,” that’s when you’ll realize oh wow, yeah, this is very different. This is very different than me if I were being a V.A. for someone. If I had an internet outage, I’d say, “Screw you,” right? That’s answer number one.
Answer number two is I don’t care. If I’m paying someone $100 a month, and they’re only working four hours a day instead of eight, I don’t care.
Jay: Heaven forbid they waste two hours and $6.00 of your money, you know?
John: Yeah right, I mean it’s so cheap that it just doesn’t matter, as long as they’re making me more money than I make them. That’s my second answer.
My third answer is something I started doing recently, I started doing this with one of my guys, because I knew he wasn’t working enough, and he wasn’t working enough to make me happy. So there’s a website called RescueTime.com, and it is software that you install on your computer, and it tracks what you do and it categorizes those things for you. So I had my guy install it on his computer under my account so that I can now see what he is doing.
And I sent him an email saying, “Hey, I’m not doing this to monitor you, I’m doing this to track and see what we are spending our time on so that we can be more efficient.” Come to find out he’s working like nine hours a week. And he’s still profitable for me at that. But now he’s certainly working more. So that’s my third answer. So RescueTime.com, very, very good. Turns out, well I’m not going to say it. I talked with the owner, and there are some very, very interesting investors into that company.
Jay: Oh really?
Sterling: Yeah, well looking at it right now, I’m like, I need to do a little tracking of my time, and make these categories so I can say, oh that category – what am I doing? I shouldn’t be doing that! Give that away!
John: Yeah, yeah, very much so.
Jay: I’m sitting here chuckling to myself, because obviously you’re very passionate about outsourcing, and you’re very passionate about the Philippines. And I’m thinking, man the Filipino government should like hire you to be like their workforce ambassador or something like that. And then I start chuckling to myself, because I’m like you probably would take the position and outsource it to a Filipino to do for you.
Sterling: That’s awesome.
Jay: So another question came in, and this one came in by email, and this kind of goes just towards the quality of work thing. And this comes from Barry Robinson from the U.K., and he says, “My attempts at hiring writers have been a disaster because I’ve ended up paying for work that I can’t use owing to poor quality. How do I make a ghostwriter of what to write about without practically writing it myself first? Should I simply produce a long list of bullet points, or write a brief summary of each page?”
What would you have to say to somebody like this, and of course it could apply to just about anything. It’s like well, the graphics work is not just quite the quality I want, how do I get the quality I want without having to practically do the job myself?
John: Well number one, my guess is that Barry hired someone on Elance and there’s probably a good chance he hired someone in India, and so that was your first mistake. Second, in the Philippines you have this guy working full time for you, and he’s permanent, so you really only have train them one time on how to do this correctly, and then they’re going to do it correctly forever, right? So that is very different.
So when you’re hiring someone depending on what kind of writing you need, you need to make sure you hire someone who speaks perfect English, or if you’re not doing stuff that requires perfect English, just hire someone who speaks English. It will be cheaper, I’ll tell you that. But then beyond that, if you want to produce a long list of bullet points, those should be writing training. I would never write a brief summary of each page or each paragraph unless it was something very specific.
Because once someone is trained in the Philippines, you never have this problem again, whereas if you’re hiring someone on Elance, or in India, or whatever, and you have them do it once, they did it wrong, you’ve got to have them do it right, you’ve got to hire someone else next time, they do it wrong, you’ve got to have them do it right. That’s my answer for this, is make sure when you hire someone in the Philippines, their English is up to the standard that you want for your writing.
If you want perfect English, before you hire them, have them write an article and read it. Have them do the research on that article. I have my people write e-books for me. Frankly they’re better quality than the e-books I got when I was hiring them on Elance and I was making sure I didn’t have done in India. But they’re better quality, the content is better, the research is better, the English writing is better, it’s better than what I had done before. Does that answer it I hope?
Jay: Yeah, that’s a good answer to the question. That actually brings up…here’s a question from me that I guess goes along with the same thing, because I’ve certainly, as Sterling has said, we’ve used people in the Philippines, and we still have somebody in the Philippines that we use for work on a weekly basis right now. However, we’ve also run into cases where the Virtual Assistant…I mean one part of your answer was you train them up, and then at that point they should just be able to do it right.
I mean at first you may be babysitting them, but then they do it right. But we’ve had people where it feels like you even make a very specific procedure list for them, you do kind of train them up, and even after they’ve done it four or five weeks, four or five times in a row, it’s like they’re still missing stuff, or not thinking ahead a little bit.
It’s like unless you say, “Do this,” and they do it, it doesn’t quite get to that point. And then you reach frustration, because you feel like you have just become a babysitter for this job. I mean have you ever run into that case, and what do you do? Do you just let them go? Have you just found the wrong person, or what would you say to that?
John: I would say to you, let them go. I don’t know, what do you have them doing for you?
Jay: Just one example is like, we had somebody and his real strength was graphic work, but he would do…sometimes we would hire…one guy we were using a while back, he’d post stuff to our website where we’re constantly posting new content to our website, to our Academy, and things like that. But he would miss little details, he would forget to make this link that way, or there would be just a part of the post that was supposed to be there that just was completely missing, just little details that weren’t there, or a link was broken; he didn’t check it to make sure it was actually working.
And just things like that, even though it was explicitly in the procedure list – make sure it’s this, and make sure these all work, and things like that.
John: Oh, that’s interesting. Like I said, I’ve literally had thousands of people do this in the last year or so, and I’ve probably had three complaints from people about their person not doing stuff right, or consistently not doing stuff right. Most people that come back to me say, “Oh man, I got so lucky with my guy. He’s so great, he does everything I want; he’s so good at it.” I’m like, “You didn’t get lucky; that’s everyone.”
I would say to you guys, maybe you got unlucky, and you just didn’t get the right person for the job. And I would say, try to go and find someone else, because I don’t have these problems, I never have had these problems. And like 90% of people I talk to who have done this don’t have these problems.
Jay: Well we have had the opportunity to work with people in the Philippines as well who are very, very good. So it’s just…and it sounds like you’ve had….you’ve certainly re-inspired my need to keep going and find the right people. It certainly is one aspect of outsourcing that can get very frustrating. I think sometimes I hesitate to outsource something just because I don’t want to go through the hassle of finding someone, and having them be a bad person. It’s like, if I knew I could just have somebody tomorrow who is competent and could great, I’d throw money at that all day long.
John: I’d say, you know the website that I use to hire people, go back and use that. Go back and use that, and my guess is you’re going to have a different experience.
Sterling: Well and based on what you said, one of the things that’s going to be a key to this is also to hire them full time, right? So like they’re attached to the situation, whereas we were doing freelance, so some weeks we wouldn’t work with them at all, and I think that there’s going to be even possibly a different level of commitment from the person if we’re obviously hiring them full time.
John: Oh yeah, definitely. So, so, so true…I will not hire someone hourly in the Philippines. I think that’s such a huge mistake because they’re not part of your business, they don’t care if you succeed or not. Once they’re part of your business, they care if you succeed because that’s their job, their job security is based on if you succeed or not.
And that’s a very different story, so go back and hire that person full time and see what happens.
Jay: Well that’s some good advice, definitely. Well and I know that I am thrilled to look further into the information that you provide. Like I said, you’ve been speaking right at me as much as anything. I’ve gotten a lot just from listening to this interview here. I mean as much as…I definitely feel like we’ve had some good success with outsourcing, and it is something that we do, and we always feel like we could do more of, but I’m realizing there’s still a lot more that I could do and so it’s incredible valuable to hear this information that you’ve given today.
So definitely, thank you John for imparting your knowledge, and we definitely encourage people who want to know more to go and check out GetReplaceMyself.com and hear those audios that you were talking about, and then definitely invest in this system as well. And I think it’s clear it’s going to pay back in spades, I mean immediately the return on investment is just going to be huge when you learn how to hire the right people, it’s just insane how fast your business can grow when you do find the right people.
So thank you, John for sharing this stuff with us.
John: No problem, you know I was talking with someone the other day about return on investment from this. And they kind of pointed out an interesting thing, this year most people invest their money in the stock market. And obviously this year, anybody who has had money in the stock market lost, or not even this year; anybody who’s put money in the stock market in the last ten years lost money.
Well in the last couple of years, I’ve invested my money in six Filipinos, and as I was talking with him, we did the calculations on it. With those six Filipinos, I made like a 4,000% return on my investment! It’s a different story when you invest in yourself instead of speculating in something else randomly where you’re investing in yourself and your business by hiring someone to do your work for you. It’s crazy what kind of results you can get, so….
Sterling: Well and I know we’re kind of wrapping up, but there’s one more thing I wanted to say about GetReplaceMyself.com. When I first went in and looked around and saw some of the videos, and did some things, I know that when we got back together a few weeks ago I said to you, “There’s only one thing missing.” And it was a big thing right? Like it was the thing that we get asked about all the time.
It was, where’s the step by step procedure lists to give these Filipinos once you get them? And you’re like, oh no it’s there…and I’m like, that’s it right there! To be able to not have to develop it yourself, I mean that’s one of the things we’ve had to do from scratch is develop all of our procedure lists, and actually do all the work ourselves so that we can develop a good procedure list, and you have that stuff in there. And that’s incredibly important, that’s like the next step.
Like the first step is getting your mind around using V.A.’s, finding the right V.A., then the next thing is like how much work do I have to do to get them trained? Well if you’ve already got procedure lists in place for you, then that’s even more time you can devote to something else because you don’t have to create those as well. And you have them at GetReplaceMyself.com, right?
John: Right, and that was the whole point of it, was to give those procedures, trainings, whatever to your guy in the Philippines, so that you don’t have to. So you don’t have to spend the time creating it. And the reason I actually did that was, I had a good friend of mine who had….just so you guys know, every time I talk about a friend of mine who did this, it’s always someone different.
Jay: You mean you have more than one friend?
John: Not all that many more, but so many people have done this now because I have told them about it. Basically everyone who hears this goes and does it. So I had a good friend of mine, probably a year and a half ago who said, “You know, here’s my problem, John. I hire my guy, I gave him his first task, he’s working eight hours a day, he came back to me a half an hour later and said it’s done! ‘Now what do you want me to do sir?’”
And he said, “I thought to myself, well, what am I going to have him do for the other seven and a half hours of the day? I have something else for him to do, but it’s going to take me two hours to create this training to teach him how to do it!” And he was like, “I don’t want to do it! What do I do?” And I was like, “Well here, give him my training that I did that I did for my guys to do this.”
And a year and a half ago he was like, “Oh! Thanks!” He was flipping out. So he gave it to his guy, it took him like four minutes, and then his guy went and did it. And that took him…that was training that he could constantly do every single day, he’d never run out of it. There’s always something for him to do to help him build his business. So that’s the kind of stuff that I train and give so that you’re always making more money, because your guys are always busy.
Jay: Well and like you said, this is an investment. I mean finding the right people and getting them working for you. Your program that teaches people how to do this, this is an investment in yourself and maybe one of the best investments you can make right now in a time like this. And I think that’s one of the biggest things that people misunderstand at first, they’re like, “Well, I just don’t know if I have the money for it right now,” or “Oh, I’ll get around to it later when I actually am making some money.”
We just encourage people to start outsourcing right away, because it is, it’s an investment, and the awesome thing is it’s the kind of investment that can return fast and return big. So that’s absolutely I guess what I’d want to leave people with is, as you’re digesting all this information, and having your mind blown as I know mine have been, it’s something that you should start right away, because it is an investment in yourself and your business. And you will get a return on that very quickly, so absolutely check out GetReplaceMyself.com and move forward in that investment. You will not be sorry.
Alright guys, that was awesome. Thanks for the conversation, thanks John for joining us and I know everybody is going to enjoy this information, so I’m sure we’ll be seeing you around.
John: Thanks guys, I appreciate it. Thanks for having me.
Sterling: Thanks John.
John: Talk to you later.
Sterling: And there you have it, our entire interview with John Jonas. And if you want to get more from John about outsourcing, go right now and sign up for his free audio about how to replace yourself. You can get that at GetReplaceMyself.com. Okay, we’ve got an announcement and a breakthrough.
And the first is the announcement, and we have a new comment line. So we finally upgraded from the old comment line with the ’206′ number to an ’877′ number. So it’s much easier and cheaper for you to call in and give us your comments and critiques. You can call us at 877-7507. And if you’d like to call in and tell us what you think about the show, and certainly be sure to give your website address while you’re talking to us. And the ones we really, really like we’ll play actually in the show.
Jay: You know, a lot of people when we have gotten a comment we played in the show, a lot of those people have gotten back to us and said, “Hey, thanks, that was awesome! I got a lot of hits to my site!” So there’s some promotional advantages as well, but we just love to have people’s insight, we love to play your voice on the show.
So certainly don’t hesitate to call us, nice and easy toll free number, it shoots the audio file over to us, and we’ll give that a play. So check that out, and of course we’ll have that on the site as well if at any time you want to look that up.
Sterling: Again, that’s 877-7507.
Jay: Speaking of audio comments, we had one recently that came in. This is actually an anonymous one, he didn’t give his name or his website. So whoever you are, we certainly appreciate that audio comment, it’s very cool stuff. And let’s go ahead and play that right now.
Recording: Hey guys, what’s up? I’m an internet marketer in the fitness business and for the past three years, I’ve been trying to run half a dozen different information products, and work my full time job at the same time. This week I pulled the plug on my job and I’m venturing out into full time internet marketing, and I’ve been using your podcast and your blog to light my way. So thanks Sterling and Jay for all your help, and all your information, and here’s to an exciting future!
Jay: Thanks for sharing that comment with us whoever you are, we’d love to….if you want to shoot us an email or another audio comment in the future and let me know your name and site. And congratulations on pulling the plug on your job as you said, we’re very excited to hear that, and to have been able to help you in that process. So by all means, keep us in the loop on your continuing progress with your internet business, and striking out on your own. It’s always exciting to hear about listeners and Internet Business Mastery community members who are escaping the ’9 to 5.’ So congratulations on that.
Here’s another great little comment, that was the breakthrough of the month, but here’s another little breakthrough from an Academy member in the forums. I just got a kick out of this, it’s short and sweet. This comes from Andy Woodell and he says…here’s his breakthrough for this week.
He says, “I finally got through my delusional phase, it lasted thirty years, and decided to seek professional help by joining Internet Business Mastery Academy.” Sometimes I think it feels like that, I think after I read ‘Rich Dad, Poor Dad,’ and a couple of those books early on, it was like oh my gosh, I’m coming out of like a cloud of haze of delusion. Like my eyes are being opened here, so certainly very cool to hear a comment like that coming from an Academy member. I did also got a chuckle out of it as well. So thank you very much Andy for sharing that in the Academy forums.
It’s time for the Internet Business Quick Tip….
Jay: Alright we have something kind of fun on this episode’s Internet Business Quick Tip. This one relates to lifestyle design, and lifestyle design is a big part of what we like to talk about because part of the philosophy of what we discuss and teach through the podcast is the idea that you decide what you want your lifestyle to look like, and then create a business that will provide for that rather than the other way around.
If you think about where you live right now and why you live there, there’s a good chance if you went out on the street say and asked a hundred people, there’s a good chance most are going to say, “Well this is where my job is.” And some people might be, “Well, because I want to live near family,” so they really do live where they want to be.
But I think that so many of us end up living just somewhere because that’s where we got a job offer, that’s where we were transferred to, and things like that. So it’s kind of fun to actually have the reverse happen where when you’re creating an internet business and you can do that from anywhere, you can start thinking about, well where would I ultimately like to move myself? Where would I like to go and live, and have a family, or grow this business, or whatever the case might be.
For instance, in the last year, Sterling has moved down to San Diego because he’s always wanted to be down there by the sun and the beach, and things like that. My wife and I last year, we got to go live in Argentina in Buenos Aires. We’ll be moving back to New York City soon, because we love that city, and that’s a place we want to be; it fits us.
So a lot of people aren’t used to thinking about in that way of where would I like to live? Well there’s this cool site that I came across called FindYourSpot.com, and basically you go there and it’s got this quiz or wizard you go through. And based on criteria that you give it, it will give you a list of ‘here’s some of the places we think would be ideal for you to live.’
So if you want to have a little fun with this, and you just have no idea what the right spot for you might be, then it might be something you want to check out. I went through that when I first found it, and it was kind of fun to see some of the places that it suggested. And you know that’s been kind of our goal with my wife and I last year, we traveled to a few different places because we just wanted to get the feel.
I mean right now we live in Portland because we’ve always wanted to try the Pacific Northwest and see what Portland is like in the music scene, the art scene, and a lot of other cool things they have. So Find Your Spot could either help you find a place to ultimately move and live, or even just places to visit for the fun of it as your lifestyle begins to unfold. So have some fun with that and start planning it out now with FindYourSpot.com.
Sterling: Well and guess where it told me where I should live?
Jay: Where’s that?
Sterling: San Diego, basically it said yeah because of my interests and all this stuff, it’s basically the Pacific beach somewhere.
Jay: Well I guess it’s better than it going Salt Lake City, Utah, and you’re like, “No! No, I just moved from there!”
Sterling: I just left from! I moved away!
Jay: I was just there!
Sterling: Awesome, that’s a cool little site. I hadn’t seen it before you mentioned it.
Jay: Yeah, it’s a fun one. So I wanted to share that here. And hey, we gave that new call in number, so if you want to go to FindYourSpot.com and maybe share with us what you discovered, where you’re going to go with your ultimate lifestyle. We’d love to hear that played on the show. So give that one a try.
