Information Diet, Part 6

Taking ACTION:

There are two points I want to make in this final segment.

First, do everything you can to find a credible source.

I a truly amazed at how many books about making money on eBay there are out there. I read many of them and my other business partner Andrew Lock has read most. The thing we found is that most of the authors have never even SOLD on ebay, yet they write books about making money selling on eBay. It’s really criminal if you asked me, as I followed the advice in many of those books only to start my first eBay business and fail miserably after spending thousands of dollars on implementation and months of my life. I followed all the advice! Why didn’t it work?! Well, it’s like asking a 400 pound man how to have a 180 pound fit body.

Then, there are scam artists who may have done some business on eBay, but defrauded people and now teach about eBay business. There is one guy that is very popular right now that has been BANNED by eBay themselves! He can never use eBay again and has even been stopped from speaking at eBay Live. Is that who you would like to learn from?! Sadly, the guy is making a fortune selling ‘how to make money on eBay’ courses.

The point is to do what you can to find out if the source of your info is credible.

Second, it seems so obvious, but I must say it – TAKE ACTION! Really, in the end, the true value of most information is what you DO with it. Knowledge is only POTENTIAL power, action is the key to real power. It’s better to take the WRONG action then NO action at all.

“You will accomplish a lot more with movement then you will with motivation”

-Gary Halbert

So, to end of my Information Diet, I will summarize. I cut out the seemingly endless barrage of information I was bombarding myself with and opted for more precise, strategic knowledge related to what I need NOW. I added some much need mind rest and entertainment. Then, I have set myself to TAKE ACTION on the surgical info I receive, rather then just constantly allow a complete INFLOW of ideas and info.

amen, what really galls me, is people who hide behind a fake name, and claim to be something but offer no proof other than they say they are what they say they are.

@ ‘Rich’,

We have explained why we didn’t give our real names at first, please refer to the 4 different episodes where we discuss it. If you were to actually listen to the show this concern would be lifted.

We have an ‘about us’ page with our names and stories of how we got started and maybe even a couple links to what we do now.

It is interesting, thought, that someone who would bring up a concern like ‘hidden identities’ would hide his own identity, oh the irony…

Hello, my name is Jason Van Orden aka Jay. I’m an internet entrepreneur. I make money by using the internet to promote myself and sell information products online. My niche is podcasting.

Examples of sites that make me money right now are:

How to Podcast Tutorial
Podcasting Underground
JasonVanOrden.com
Find Real Estate Investing Deals

My current project is creating a complete podcasting course that I will sell sell online. I also make money through affiliate programs and some consulting.

I still go by Jay on the show because…well….”Sterling and Jay” just sounds better than “Sterling and Jason”. Besides, I go by “Jay” in real life sometimes, too.

To be honest, if I could go back in time I would probaby have used a fake name.

Perhaps something like Cornerlius Balthazac the Third ;-)

“Rich” needs to stop drinking the hate-orade.

Sterling-san and Jay-son, this longtime listener gets a great deal of value from your site and podcast — no matter what your secrety identity may be.

Keep up the great work.

knuckleheads!

I wasn’t talking about you, I was commenting on the content of Sterling’s post, sheesh. He talks about a guy who does “some business on ebay” is banned and then promotes himself as an ebay “guru.” that is what I was commenting on. Maybe someone should read a little more carefully.

Thinking Jay is a fake name for Jason is like thinking Rich is a fake name for Richard. c’mon, , now as for Sterling, I didn’t know that wasn’t his real name, so that does give me some pause. (in fact I found this site thru Jay’s podcasting site so I knew who he was from the getgo)

and yeah I am making my way thru the podcasts, some good info in there.
