I’ve been thinking about what you two said about DMPs and concrete goals, and I think you came upon, then overlooked something.

Both of you stressed you needed to know the ‘why’ of any particular goal for yourself. I submit that the ‘why’ is the goal itself.

For example, say one of your goals is to lose 40 pounds: Jason suggested the ‘why’, the reasoning behind the desired weight loss might be to increase one’s chances of living longer and providing for one’s family. Doesn’t, then, the stated reason of a longer, healthier life and providing for your family become the goal, the DMP? Losing 40 pounds then becomes simply a means to an end; One of the steps Sterling discussed in achieving a goal and not the goal itself?
