[...] I can’t wait for part two of Jay’s article, but I’d like to suggest that one of your biggest assets is your email list. When people opt-in to learn more about your products, and especially if they have bought something from you before, they are demonstrating that they have an interest in what you’re doing. According to Jay and Sterling at Internet Business Mastery, the purpose of your website should be to get people to join your mailing list. Listen to their podcast to get more information on why they think so, but you should also do research on direct email marketing. EDIT: Here’s the specific podcast titled The #1 Purpose of Your Web Site (even above selling products). [...]

Hi guys,

I found you a couple of days ago (looking for podcasts on iTunes). I have been listening late into the night braving my wife's comments about my iPod light being too bright :).

I picked up 4 Hour Work Week a week ago and I have been brainstorming for a few months on internet-based businesses I could possibly create, so the information you are providing is very timely. I am totally psyched to put your principles into practice Thank you so very much!!

I started with the 1st podcast I could download (iTunes) and I am in the middle of listening to IBM 19 | The #1 Purpose of Your Web Site (even above selling products). Sterling grabbed my attention when he mentioned that there is a Master Mind Group in SLC. Sterling, does the group happen to be WOMA or RMAMA? I live in Utah County so it would be easy for me to attend.

Thanks again ... I will be leaving a positive review on iTunes and on your site as a very small token of gratitude to the wealth of information I get from the Internet Business Mastery Podcast and website.

All the Best,

Mark Parratt

@Bryan,

That is why it is important to have a primary objective or "exit plan" in mind before you start so that you know what it is you are working for and when you are finished.

Great Podcast! I am catching up to you guys and I am on episode 19 right now. The information on just how to use the email list is great. I plan on getting started right away.

I am reading the E-Myth currently and I am wondering if you have any suggestions on keeping things organized. I know that it comes up over and over.

My biggest problem is that the entreprenuer in me will not shut up, I am getting idea after idea and I get way too stretched out. I do not act on all of them yet, but it seems that as I get close to completing one project I think of an idea for a better one, and then nothing gets done. How do you know when a project is ready for the public, and you can move on to the next?

Thanks again, great info!

Kevin,

I don't have any suggestions for software. I think it is important to find something that works for you. I highly recommend a book called Getting Things Done. That might help you tweak in your system.

You guys do an excellent job explaining the process you went through to start your businesses. I'm really looking forward to the list building podcasts. Do you have any suggestions for software that can keep track of the various phases of multiple projects (people contacted, what you talked about etc.) I presently use a pen and paper which is not working very well.

I'm a long-time listener, first time commenter. Your discussion of email lists has been a big influence for me in the development/design of my new site. Thanks again and I'm looking forward to your show on list building!
