There’s definitely a little bit of a numbers game to finding the right VA for you. You might have to try a few to get that one that really works well.

So keep at it!

Hey Tom, I’m so glad I came across your article! I’m in the market for a VA and I was looking for some standard criteria; I know a VA would help me but I wasn’t quite sure what to look for yet. Looking forward to part 2 of this piece!

These sensible steps are just as good for creating briefs for one-off pieces of work through freelancing sites, especially around making the expectations abundantly clear.

Outsourcing is essential when you are looking to grow, but you definitely need to follow a cautious approach or you can end up creating more work for yourself – ouch!

Thanks Tom. I hired a VA a couple years ago and swore it off until recently… which is how I found this page. I’m definitely going to take you advice on the hiring test – hopefully I’ll get a better VA this time around.

Hey Chris,

I can tell you that we pay once a month for most and sometimes 2 times a month, if they request it. We also make the VAs be totally responsible for sending us an invoice. They have to be the ones to make sure we pay them!
