Donald Trump Told Gene Simmons to KISS off!

So, I had pretty much given up on The Apprentice. I had watched for several seasons and really enjoyed it, then three or so seasons in I got bored and moved on. There was no thing in particular that made me feel that way, I just sorta decided to find other entertainment.

That is, until several weeks ago when that magazine NUP_111113_0878subscription I bought to help my daughters grade school earn money for this or that, finally paid off. I got a subscription to Entertainment Weekly, simply as a guilty pleasure, and there it was in all it’s glory! An article saying that Donald Trump was about to put on the Celebrity Apprentice and it was going to star Rock and Roller, Gene Simmons. This excited me for several reasons…

No, I’m not a KISS fan. Never like the music, but I do enjoy listening to Gene Simmons.

I mentioned before that I have really benefited from listening to the audio for Sex, Money, Kiss book, because of Gene’s insights into marketing and self promotion. I had just listened to his book the week before I saw the news.

NUP_104123_107 The week before I listened to Gene, I had listened to Donald Trumps latest book, Think Big and Kick Ass. I listened to it 3 times in a row, actually, I really wanted to absorb the “Think Big” message.

The idea of seeing Gene go head to head with the Donald sounded entertaining to say the least.

Episode one was awesome, Gene was in charge from the very beginning. When the celebrity teams where supposed to sell hot dogs in New York, and the other guys on the team started trying to think of ways to sell hot dogs for 10-100 bucks, Gene just got on the phone and started calling his contacts telling them to bring ten GRAND down to the hot dog stand. His team killed in the end, because of Gene’s big thinking.

Episode two was more of Gene taking control and ended the same, in triumph. It was enjoyable to watch and actually made me walk away thinking, where am I not acting certain and in charge? Loved it.

Episode three… That is where the producers of the show as well as Donald Trump just wanted to slap Gene and say, “come on man, we want you on here as long as possible, you’re a entertaining asset to this season!” The Donald so desperately didn’t want to utter his famous catchphrase he nearly told Gene who to take into the boardroom with him so he wouldn’t have to can him!

I’m pissed at Gene Simmons. His actions robbed me of 10+ more episodes watching the extreme thinking of the “Benevolent Dictator”!

Did you see the show? What do you think Gene was thinking?

I just like to say…

This was the best experience watching a true entrepreneur and big thinker…

I think Gene really wanted to send a message to Donald and the Public he is the Real Deal…

Death before Dishonor…

One thing I have learnt in business is honor and integrity of the leader determines how well the business will achieve success. This motivates the team a great vision, great thinking and a great business plan only get you so far. You also need honor and integrity to your team and you will receive it in return their best efforts over time.

The leadership role is important he did what was honorable protected his team members and accepted responsibility for his actions and stood by his guns…

Amazing to watch…

I could not believe Ivanka Trump spoke to him in the way she did… Does she not realize Gene Simmons did more in the show that she has probably done in business…

I would like to see Ivanka as a participant of the Apprentice, she is like one those lectures at university who think they are the real deal but they are teachers not entrepreneurs… Those who can not teach…

I also think Kodak was wrong in there decision and if anything the game was fixed…

The icing on the cake was Donald Trump asking if Gene thought he was smart… Well if you have to ask you should know the answer…

Gene should start his own business show he has so much to teach from a practical experience…

Amazing to watch not a big KISS fan but an entrepreneur fan… Gene Simmons is on that list…

Yes, I watched the show and I agree with your 1000%, I am going to really miss Gene. He made the show fun, but hey we still have crazy Omarosa for some more thrills. She is a train wreck and Gene missed his opportunity to get back on track, if only he chose the other girl!

I think Gene wanted to get fired or he wanted Don to sit there and choose between him and Omarosa. Not a good place to put the Don in. The Don had no choice, he had to fire Gene.

I was not a fan of Gene and had no idea he was such a mind. I knew someone had to be behind the marketing machine that is KISS as a brand, now I know.

I will be getting both books based on your comments. And will continue to watch the show. They should make a DVD that only contains the comments from Donald over the past seasons. He drops seeds of wisdom every week “on the fly” and it is so worth pluggin’ through the hour of knuckle heads from the past 2 seasons. Thank God for TiVo.

Gene was the best thing about this show, and now I suspect the ratings will tank big time. I loved the way Gene handled himself on the show, but a lot of other people hated it, which is probably exactly the way Gene wants it to be. My guess is Gene just wanted to be on for a few episodes and make a splash and then be kicked off, after all, why risk becoming stale when you don’t own the show and are probably not making much money to be on it?

@John,

I think you will really enjoy the books. I love hearing from real life events, not just theory, which is why I really enjoy Donald and Gene.

@John #2

I’m not sure if that was Gene’s plan, but I like how he backed his idea no matter what. It was interested to see him just continue to go down with the ship! He had to have thought about all the ways to save himself or maybe he was blind to the fact that he lost the challenge since he kept saying he thought he won, at least in his mind… How often do you see someone stay that committed to their idea! Interesting to see.

Guys,

Been listening to your podcast, have only known about IBM for less than a week. Great stuff!!! Keep it up! I decided to check out your site and found this post. Just watched the episode last night. Wanted to give you my 2 cents.

Plain and simple…Gene wanted out. Gene is above the petty tomfoolery that is The Appretence! Gene is truly a (nothing to something) story who is a fierce patriot and a stable family man. I dare to say that in light of his publicized moral shortcomings, Gene is among the few true conservative businessmen in the game today! Again, Gene wanted out.

@gborden,

Yeah, maybe you are right. The way that he go fired seems to suggest it on his end. Trump definitely didn’t want him to leave, he practically begged him to bring the girl that he wanted to fire to the boardroom. GENE!

Omarosa shouldve been fired. I almost fell out of my chair when the British guy tore her up and she got catty.

Gene definitely wanted to go. He isn’t dumb and it was pretty obvious to me.

Sterling,

Thank you for your suggestion on Trumps new book. I really lenjoy it . I, like Jay, had given up on “Trump Fluff”, but this book has been worth the audible.com download. Its helping me think differently and thats all I ever ever ask for in a book.

My question is what was your “Success Quiz” score at the first of the book. I scored an middle of the road 38 and wondered how you scored.

Thank you in advance for your response.

@Wade,

I scored a 57. I want it all so bad I have dedicated my life to fulfilling my dreams of helping others and being massively financially free!
